Henry's 50th Birthday Flash Mob

Big milestones are important. Whether it be a birthday, business or anniversary celebration, milestones are a time to go above and beyond to show someone they're loved and to recognize their achievements.

Sharon contacted us in January and told us she wanted to do something very special to celebrate her husband's 50th birthday. We all know that during these COVID times, that can be a challenge. We were thrilled to help her out and created a small flash mob of their closest family & friends to surprise him - masked, socially distanced.

We expressed to her how important it was that his flash mob was highly personalized. She dug through Henry's extensive music collection and after throwing out several suggestions, we landed on a throwback mix comprised of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, "Little Red Corvette" by Prince and "Birthday" by the Beatles for the end. We decided to use props for each section: A red see through scarf for the first song (since that appears in the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" music video), red sunglasses for the second song (cause who doesn't wear shades when they're cruisin'?) and then last but not least, all of Henry's friends had his face plastered to their t-shirts, and those were revealed via a big unzipping during the last song. Each dancer created their own hair and face paint for him - and they turned out great! Last but not least, Sharon gathered up some leaves for our confetti ending.

Due to rain we made a last minute location switch from Laurelhurst Park to Grout Elementary where we could be more comfortably sheltered from the elements.

Enjoy the pictures below from the day of and please check out our Instagram (@pdxflashmob) a video of the performance.
